Chen wins the Long Island Amateur

Over the past 8 years, I’m sure you’ve seen Chen on the range at Rock Hill. He’s hard to miss—bombing it to the other end in his St. John’s University golf shirt.

A fantastic competitive spring turned into a great summer already with his performance at the 99th annual Long Island Amateur. After qualifying eighth out of 32 for match play, none of Chen’s matches went past the 16th hole except (technically) the 36-hole final, where he won 7-and-5 against Sam O’Hara. In the morning, Chen made three birdies and an eagle to carry a 3-up lead into lunch. After bogeying his 19th and 20th holes to drop to one up, Chen made six birdies and an eagle to close out the match. This trophy goes with the one from the Met Public Links he won last week. Come into to shop and check them out…they’ll both be on display! I’m so proud of the effort he’s put into his game. He wants to get better every day, and it’s exciting to be a part of the ride.
